About us and our editorial rules

Ownership, revenue and the yardsticks behind the list, set out without spin.

Last revised 16 October 2026

The people behind the page

luxorlotto belongs to the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians, a federally recognised tribal nation with its reservation in the Santa Ynez Valley; the postal address is 3400 East Highway 246, Santa Ynez CA 93460. A handful of staff editors research, draft and revise the hotel entries. Letters reach them at contact@luxorlotto.org.

The resort that is ours

Chumash Casino Resort, which opens the list, is owned by our publisher. Ownership is the sole reason it heads the page; no neutral contest put it there. When someone books a room at Chumash, our owner earns from that stay directly, referral commission or not. We think readers deserve to hear this from us before they click anything.

Where the revenue comes from

There are two streams. Hotel links on the site may include a referral tag, so after a reservation a partner network or the resort may credit luxorlotto with a commission, while your price stays as it is. Separately, every night spent at Chumash Casino Resort adds to the income of the tribe that owns this site. Hotels cannot rent a place among the ten, and we sell no sponsored placements.

How hotels made the cut (E-E-A-T)

Entries two through ten reflect editorial choice. To qualify, a property had to be trading, offer rooms on the same grounds, and give guests leisure beyond the casino itself: a spa, pools, or a stage for performers. After that we compared five things: how rooms are laid out, leisure on the property, what lies within a day's drive, how hard the airport run is, and how plainly each resort shows surcharges and registration age online.

We lean on hotel websites, tribal and county visitor bureaus, and dated reporting on openings or refits. Numbers that disagree between sources, room totals being the usual culprit, are simply left out. Our editors have driven these valley highways and mountain passes themselves, and an entry says so whenever a detail needs a call to the front desk.

Topics we leave alone

Only rooms, leisure and travel logistics are covered. Gaming is not explained, encouraged or linked to, and no online service of that kind appears anywhere. Each hotel gets one plain line noting the casino on site, and that is the end of it.

When we get something wrong

Venues get renamed and pool seasons shift. Spotted a stale detail? Email contact@luxorlotto.org, with the resort's name and the detail that has changed. An editor checks it against an official source, rewrites the passage and moves the revision date shown under the heading.
